YouthLAB Invited to Co-Curate L.A. Video Fest
YouthLAB has been asked to curate a program of youth media for 24/7: A DIY Video Summit to be held at USC's Annenberg Center in February 2008. Our video The Revolution Will Be Televised will also be featured in the Main Program. We are asking for donations to our Travel Fund to help offset the cost of attending the Festival which over 1,000 people are expected to attend.
YouthLAB Huge Success
Thanks to all our supporters, YouthLAB - the workshop concluded on Friday August 3rd with a premiere screening at Columbia College in Chicago to a packed auditorium.

The youth participants screened their work - The Revolution Will Be Televised - a collectively written poetry/music about the potential of new technologies to democratize media.

Check out www.youthlab.net to watch all the amazing work produced in YouthLAB.

But YouthLAB still needs your support to package a DVD of the work and offer small stipends to the volunteers who have put in unpaid hours since March. Any amount helps a lot!

More Software
Tapes

You can view everything they create on-line throughout the year! Chip-in to make a difference in the lives of youth!
Graham Edwards is a Rock Star!
Thank you Graham for catapulting us to our goal!!!!! Because of you and all of our other contributors, the youth filmmakers in Barbados will have a rare opportunity to create films about their important experiences and perspectives, which can be shared with the world!

We are energized by your support!

Nonetheless, there are many more items on our wish list, including lights, microphones, and tripods. And of course, we could definitely use a second computer. So I created a second smaller fund for video supplies. Every dollar outfits the Barbados team with the tools they need to sustain a new media film collective in this developing country that is so rich in culture and history. Please continue your support!
Getting Closer
Thanks to our latest donor Paul Alan Smith - a musician who really does rock -we are inching our way there! Thank you so much.
YouthLAB to Arrive in Barbados on Saturday
Open Youth Networks Director Mindy Faber travels to Barbados July 7th to bring cameras, microphones and filmmaking equipment to a team of young filmmakers creating work on the legacy of slavery for internet distribution. But money is still needed for computer editing stations! Everything raised will go to purchase laptops and editing software.

Thanks Jim McKay for being our newest contributor! You rock!

All the work they produce with your support will be available on-line on Motionbox.com, Democracy.TV, YouthLab.net and YouTube soon.
Denise comes through again!
We began with the dream of running YouthLAB, a summer institute where youth filmmakers from Barbados and US join together in virtual space to create photography, video and poetry on the legacy of slavery. We needed to raise $25,000 and we are almost there. Only $1,500 remains but there is no time to waste. Please give whatever you can now so the youth in Barbados have the supplies they need.

You will be able to watch the entire wonderful exchange unfold daily on youthlab.net beginning July 23rd.

Use your credit card - it only takes a minute!
